SAS 9.4 to Viya Migration
The flagship service — proven end-to-end delivery
Organizations running SAS 9.4 face a hard deadline: migrate to SAS Viya or lose support. Most discover the migration is far harder than SAS marketing suggests — import tools break on complex Enterprise Guide projects, scheduling does not work as expected, and the expertise gap is enormous.
At PreZero Netherlands, we led the complete SAS 9.4 to Viya migration over three years. This encompassed Enterprise Guide projects, stored procedures, Visual Analytics dashboards, SQL Server databases, file systems, and SAP BW/DS integrations. When the native Viya import utility failed on complex EG projects, we engineered a custom import tool. When Viya's built-in scheduling proved inadequate for production batch workloads, we replaced it with Apache Airflow.
Post-migration, we architected the modernised environment: dev/prod separation with collaboration workflows, a PostgreSQL data warehouse with Change Data Capture for SAP delta processing, and cross-platform performance optimisation. This is not theoretical knowledge — it is a complete migration delivered from start to finish.

ETL & Data Integration
Pipeline design and batch optimisation with proven results
ETL is the backbone of enterprise data operations. Viking Consulting designs and builds data integration pipelines that are reliable, maintainable, and fast. We work with SAS Data Integration Studio, Apache Airflow, and custom ETL frameworks to deliver pipelines that process data accurately and efficiently.
Our ETL work includes pipeline design from source profiling through staging, transformation, and presentation layers. We specialise in batch optimisation — identifying and eliminating bottlenecks in mission-critical processing chains. At Federale Verzekering, we reduced the daily ETL batch runtime by 60% through systematic redesign of DI Studio flows and SAS Macros optimisation.
We also deliver batch scheduling solutions, transitioning organisations from legacy scheduling (LSF, cron) to modern orchestration platforms like Apache Airflow. At PreZero Netherlands, we designed and deployed the complete production batch scheduling environment on SAS Viya.

Data Warehousing
Architecture design and implementation at scale
Viking Consulting designs and builds enterprise data warehouses using proven methodologies. We have deep experience with Kimball dimensional modelling and Data Vault architectures, and we select the right approach based on the specific requirements of each organisation.
At Sanoma Media Netherlands, we extended the conformed data warehouse using both Kimball and Data Vault methodologies, supporting analytics across multiple media brands. At HBF Health Insurance, we led ETL development for the Policy and Member subject areas that formed the core of the enterprise data warehouse.
Our data warehouse work includes Change Data Capture (CDC) implementations for near-real-time data availability, Slowly Changing Dimensions (SCD Type 1, 2, and 3), and data quality management using DataFlux. We work across PostgreSQL, Oracle, DB2, SQL Server, MySQL, and Greenplum.

Analytics designed for business users
Business intelligence should serve the business, not just the technical team. Viking Consulting builds analytics solutions using SAS Visual Analytics, dashboards, and reporting tools that are designed for business users to consume and interact with directly.
Our BI work includes Visual Analytics dashboard development, OLAP cube design, Information Maps for self-service reporting, and governed sandbox environments that enable business users to perform self-service analysis without impacting production systems. At Curtin University, we created OLAP cubes and Information Maps for business user self-service reporting via Web Report Studio.
At HBF Health Insurance, we piloted Self Service Analytics implementing Gartner best practices for governed self-service BI using Tableau and SAS, establishing a model for business-user-driven analytics that maintained data governance standards.

Production web applications built with modern tools
